South of Turkey Point
The Moon Light Race is an evening sail/race that takes place off Turkey Point and lasts for 4 or 5 hours depending on the wind. It is scheduled to coincide with a full moon. The course can be shorter or longer depending on the weather, but our goal is to provide a full evening of sailing. The course will go around a series of buoys identified before racing begins. The marks are selected from the CBYRA Region 1 registered marks. The race will feature regular starts and also a start for newcomers to racing and evening sailing. You might ask how you can win since you have a slow old cruising boat. The answer is everyone gets a handicap rating based on your boat and your level of experience. Anyone can win and there are prizes for just showing up. Free dock space will be available for all non-club marina participants. Please notify the sail chair.
